ECI Announces Bye-Election Schedule for 8 Assembly Constituencies Across Seven States and UTs

New Delhi, October 6, 2025:
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for bye-elections to fill vacancies in eight Assembly Constituencies spread across Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Telangana, Punjab, Mizoram, and Odisha. The announcement was made through Press Note No. ECI/PN/317/2025 dated October 6, 2025.

According to the Commission, these bye-elections are being held to fill vacancies arising due to resignations, disqualifications, and deaths of sitting Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).

The Commission has also reiterated that all guidelines related to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will come into immediate effect in the concerned constituencies from the date of announcement of the bye-election schedule.

The ECI emphasized its commitment to ensuring free, fair, and peaceful elections, with adequate arrangements for security, EVM management, and voter participation.
