ECI to Hold Key Press Conference Today at Vigyan Bhawan Major Announcements on Bihar Elections Expected

New Delhi, October 6, 2025:
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to hold a crucial press conference today at 4:00 PM at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where the Commission is expected to make significant announcements related to the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections 2025.

According to an official media invitation issued by the ECI from Nirvachan Sadan, Ashoka Road, New Delhi, accredited media personnel have been invited to cover the event. Entry will begin at 2:30 PM, and all attendees have been requested to be seated by 3:30 PM for the conference scheduled to commence at 4:00 PM.

Focus Likely on Bihar Polls and Election Preparedness

Sources within the Commission indicate that the press conference may focus on Bihar’s election schedule, poll preparedness, and the implementation of recent electoral reforms. The ECI had earlier announced a series of 17 new initiatives, including the use of colour photographs on EVMs, stricter postal ballot regulations, and ensuring smaller polling stations for smoother voting experiences.

Given the recent controversy surrounding the revision of Bihar’s voter list, which saw the deletion of nearly 69 lakh names, the Commission is also expected to address public concerns and opposition criticism regarding voter disenfranchisement.

High Public and Political Interest

Political analysts suggest that today’s ECI briefing will be pivotal in setting the tone for the Bihar elections. With voter roll verification complete and reforms in place, this conference may officially mark the beginning of the election process in the state.

All eyes are now on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and his team, who are likely to unveil the official election schedule, including polling and counting dates.
