Sasaram is a historically significant Lok Sabha constituency in south-west Bihar, known as the birthplace of Sher Shah Suri, the medieval ruler who introduced the Grand Trunk Road. The region has a mix of agriculture, mining, and trade-based economy. Sasaram is also a reserved constituency for Scheduled Castes (SC).
